A journey into Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi’s ‘Choi Kwang Do’ Martial Art...
This summer was a mind blowing moment being able to attend not only as an instructor but also with the privilege of being a school owner training under the legacy of Grandmaster Choi, learning even more about this masterpiece of an art Choi Kwang Do.
Choi Kwang Do is a very special art indeed, not only for its highly enjoyable and addictive techniques that give you an absolute thirst for wanting to learn more with the hope of mastering it bit by bit over time but for the way in which in my experience it brings people together. CKD has led me on a path to make a number of great friends, great role models, and even now great students that I have formed strong friendships with.
What has always fascinated me about the art is although it has a lot of techniques and technicalities to master true in most arts CKD has something unique and different to offer in that it literally empowers and builds confidence in individuals and breeds excellence through the continuous practice of learning the fighting techniques. CKD literally breeds positivity and magic into the communities that it serves.
The art of Choi Kwang Do is born from the genius of Grandmaster Kwang Jo Choi and it is truly a beautiful martial art that inspires people, and particularly the countless number of devoted teachers that have absolute faith in teaching and continue to develop in this fascinating art.
Adaptability is a key feature in both a good student and a good instructor and the UK summer workshop was designed to give straight from the top direct training to go back to B.A.S.I.C.S and motivate every instructor to be the best they can be by rebuilding from their most basic techniques.
The best thing for me that came from this workshop was not only having the chance to watch GMC in front of me perform the techniques but the way in which this workshop in particular has refreshed the process of bringing together the whole nation’s team of Instructors and School owners to become closer and work together to move forward our beloved art that we dedicate ourselves to Choi Kwang Do.
Grandmaster Choi I personally want to thank you because your art has literally made my life and the lives of many of my students better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Pil Seung!
